About Linda

Linda Kay I’ve read so many author bios that say writing was the last thing they thought they’d ever do. Well, that’s not quite the case with me. I’ve wanted to be a novelist since I was seven... maybe six. It all started in the first grade anyway. I wrote a poem for a class project and it went a little something like this:
From up in the air, to down on the ground. A beautiful rainbow appears. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. A pretty, pretty rainbow.
Simply poetic, I know. But my sensitive-to-the-feelings-of-her-students teacher praised my masterpiece to no end. And from that point on, I could never quite convince myself writing wasn't the life for me.

And thus… I created stories.

During my high school years and under the influence of my older sisters (as older sisters are prone to influence), I began reading romance fiction and watch out world. I tore my way through the local libraries, ripping every romance book off the shelf I could find. And as I read, I picked up different styles, phrases, themes, and emotions to help my own writing lean toward the romantic genre. Before I completed the twelfth grade, I'd written two manuscripts.

When I entered college, I’d already been through a correspondence class in children’s literature from The Institute of Children's Literarture. But I continued my writing lessons by majoring in English with an emphasis in creative fiction writing from Pittsburg State University. And by the time I graduated with a bachelor’s degree, I’d completed two more manuscripts.

Currently, I've sold three of my books to publishers (See my Bookshelf for details). Plus I'm a member of Romance Writers of America and a local chapter, Midwest Romance Writers, who meets monthly in the Kansas City area.

I grew up on a dairy farm in the Midwest as the youngest of eight children. Now I live in Kansas with my husband--a baby on the way--and our nine cuckoo clocks. My life's been blessed with lots of people to learn from and love. Writing's always been a major part my world and I can't wait till I can share some of my stories with other romance lovers.
